Purpose: The members of the board of directors shall supervise and control the business, property, and affairs of Wanakee, except as otherwise provided by the annual conference, law, or the Wanakee bylaws.
Victoria Sheehan (Chair) is originally from Ireland and first came to work at Wanakee when she was a student. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering and Architecture, she spent three summers working at camp, first as a counselor and then as the program director. While working at Wanakee Victoria met her husband Sean and for that reason Wanakee is a particularly special place for the Sheehan family. Having seen firsthand the impact that a week at Wanakee can have on a young person’s life, Victoria is passionate about Wanakee’s ministry and mission. Victoria has served on the board of directors since 2007, becoming chair in 2013. Previously, Victoria has also volunteered as an event director and has served on the program, facilities and finance committees. A dedicated public servant, Victoria has worked in transportation for the past fifteen years. Currently she serves as the commissioner for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
Matt Mansur (Vice Chair) has been affiliated with Wanakee for more than two decades as a volunteer, staff member, and camper. He brings to the board experience from a handful of camps and retreat centers from across the country. Most recently Matt has been teaching history and coaching football and basketball at a high school in the Lakes Region. In his free time, Matt likes to explore the Whites with his dog, Brutus.
Phyllis Riviere (Secretary) has served on the Wanakee Board of Directors since 2014. She has co-directed Wanakee’s Sails & Trails, and participated in work days, as well as the annual 5K event. Prior to her current position as the office administrator of St. James UMC in Merrimack, New Hampshire, she worked for 13 years as a paraeducator in an intensive needs elementary school program. Phyllis and her husband Rick live in Merrimack, and have two adult children, Ryan and Courtney.

Penny Maurer has 20+ years of industry experience in creative marketing and design with emphasis on corporate brand development. She has worked as a brand manager and creative director for a variety of agencies, corporations and nonprofit organizations. She also has a background in art education teaching grades K-12 in upstate New York. Penny brings to Wanakee a love of the outdoors and the church camp experience. Penny became a "life camper" in the 80’s attending her first music camp at Sky Lake Retreat and Conference Center in Windsor, New York (CRM of the Upper New York Conference). She continued as a camper later becoming a CIT and camp counselor working with special needs campers at Sky Lake. Penny currently serves on Wanakee’s board of directors, is chair of the communications team, and volunteers as a director. She also is a board of directors member at Friends of Forgotten Children in Concord, New Hampshire. She and her family attend Bow Mills UMC in Bow, New Hampshire where she serves as a part-time Sunday School teacher, a voice in the choir, an occasional flutist and as a member of the Drama Ministry.
Nicole Richards has been passionately involved with Wanakee for nearly 30 years. She has been a camper, LIT, maintenance assistant, program director, volunteer director and counselor, board member, and Program Committee member and chair. Nicole works in London, England for Nuance Communications’ Healthcare Division as a Manager of Project Services. She is dedicated to Wanakee’s mission and hopes to greet many new people this summer who have been or are soon to be touched by the Holy Spirit through Wanakee’s ministries
Katie Ross has had a passion for Wanakee since first becoming a camper at the age of 9 and has been a member of Wanakee’s board of directors since 2015. Katie worked on summer staff in 1997, 2000, and 2008 and volunteered throughout the years as a counselor or camp nurse. Katie is a registered nurse with a Bachelor’s in Nursing from Rivier University. She has over 15 years of experience in emergency medicine, including 10 years as a paramedic. Katie enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, working out, and enjoying everything New Hampshire has to offer. She has two young boys who have been attending Wanakee since they were born! She is excited to help shape Wanakee’s future.
Cindy Sroda has volunteered at Wanakee since 1994 both as a counselor and a director. “Wanakee is near & dear to my heart,” she says “and one of the best things is watching prior campers return as staff and then as volunteers.” Cindy attends Bow Mills UMC in Bow, NH where she teaches Sunday school, helps with VBS, co-leads a monthly “Kids Night In” and serves as the financial secretary. She is also on the District Committee for the District Superintendent in NH. She is a CPA and has worked in public accounting for 27 years. She currently works for a firm in Bedford, NH.
