Hello Friends!

I am so excited about the diverse summer camp programs offered at Wanakee in 2017. No matter your age or interests, I am confident you’ll find something to look forward to this summer.

Campers of all ages will make new friends, conquer our climbing wall, experience a community of genuine acceptance, explore their relationship with God, make S’mores around the campfire, and take home unforgettable memories. Wanakee offers a safe environment and range of activities which encourage personal and spiritual growth.

Many of my favorite childhood memories are from my camper days at Wanakee. I will never forget what it felt like to succeed on the ropes course, singing (yelling) Beatles songs while canoeing down the Pemi, looking at the stars on Lookout, or the impact that Wanakee counselors and staff had on my personal development. My childhood Wanakee experiences and friendships still shape my life every day.

I appreciate the trust you put in the Wanakee staff when you send your child to camp. We are excited to continue our accreditation through the American Camp Association in 2017, and our 10 day+ staff-training will focus on safety in all forms, with robust sessions on first aid, emergency procedures, conflict resolution, and mentoring. Sending your child to camp is an investment that will serve them for life, and we will nurture that investment with great care.

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, there’s a place for you at Wanakee in 2017.

Grace and Peace,
James Tresner, Executive Director
