A Day at Camp: Wanakee Daily Camp Schedule

group hug Wanakee offers many varying events for all ages; each day differs depending upon the event.

Because of our unique small-group focus on relationships, you live, work, play and pray with your friends in your site.

While several events are held in the same week, you never get lost in the crowd; your small group is always with you.

If one could define a "typical" day at Wanakee, the schedule would look something like this:

Activities

All events have swimming, hiking, games, Morning Watch and Bible Discoveries.

Depending upon age and the event you registered for, activities may also include drama practice, ropes course, climbing wall, canoeing or row-boating, music practice, rock climbing, crafts, travel trips, and more.

Wanakee games are non-competitive to better facilitate relationships and teamwork.

Meals

Meals are special events at Wanakee. A particular camp site is assigned to lead a singing grace followed by a camper spoken prayer.

The family-style, all-you-can-eat meal consists of favorite foods campers love.

After each meal campers in each site take turns cleaning the Dining Hall and washing the dishes.

Music

Wanakee is a musical place, even for those who aren't "Foot-Notes" or "Musical Theater Camp." Following every meal, an assigned camp-site leads the entire dining hall in singing three songs, some inspirational, some crazy.

Singing is also popular around the campfire. We have so much fun, campers of all singing styles join in!

Cookouts

Several times per week, campers enjoy cooking their food over the campfire.

Favorites include pancakes, grilled cheese, tin foil babies, dough-boys and the best pizza ever! (You'll have to come to camp to discover campfire pizza.)

Trips

Some camp events include trips off-site for rock climbing, hiking, horse riding, biking, Squam Lakes Science Center or other fun places.

Campfires

Each site has its own campfire for songs, stories and meaningful discussions. Don't forget S'mores at the end of the week.

"Allelu's"

Our weekly final-night Wanakee tradition is the singing of "Allelu, allelu, allelu, alleluia; Praise ye the Lord" all the way up and back down the hill. You just have to be there. You'll never forget it!
