The Assistant Director is integral to Wanakee’s year round operations, providing support in all aspects of camp management, with particular focus on retreats, office administration, summer program development, and volunteer management. As a member of a small team, the duties of the Assistant Director are varied. The position requires someone who is highly organized, capable of problem-solving, comfortable taking initiative, an effective communicator, and able to transition quickly from one task to the next. This person must be resourceful, personable, flexible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
This position is part-time between September and May, 15-20 hours/week, with the potential to grow. Evening and weekend work is required periodically.
Between September and May, this person will work both remotely (if desired) and on-site at Wanakee as needed. During Wanakee’s overnight summer camp program, the majority of staff members live on site in Meredith, New Hampshire. We hope that the Assistant Director will become fulltime during the summer months and live on site (room and board included) from early June through late August. Summer duties will shift based on the skills and interests of the Assistant Director, and may include serving as the summer camp Program Director, Operations Director, or Office Manager/Registrar.
The Assistant Director will be required to lead site operations if the Executive Director is unavailable.
