Volunteering at Wanakee: Everything You Need to Know

Volunteers are at the heart of our ministry at Wanakee. We are so grateful to have a broad network of talented individuals who help us put on high quality programming, care for the health and well-being of our campers, maintain our facilities, provide opportunities for spiritual growth, and so much more. If you are choosing to spend a day, a week, or a part of your summer with us, we are excited to see you!

There are lots of opportunities to get involved, from Spring and Fall work days, to year round committees, but to experience the magic of summer in it’s full swing, you’ll want to check out our Volunteer Page to learn about summer volunteering opportunities.

In order to provide a safe experience for our campers, we require all summer volunteers to complete the following paperwork and training before coming to camp. You can use this page as your checklist as you prepare to come to camp.

Scheduling a Time to Volunteer

As you think through how Wanakee will fit into your summer plans, a member of Wanakee’s Program Committee will help you find an opportunity that fits your skills and schedule. To connect with us, reach out to the office at mail@wanakee.org or fill out our Volunteer Interest Form.

Volunteer Training

Volunteer training is required for all summer volunteers and is offered in person and virtually. Save the date! This year’s in person training will be on Saturday, June 20th. If you are unable to attend in person, the training will be livestreamed and recorded.

Volunteer Paperwork

The following paperwork is required for all summer volunteers. Most paperwork can be completed in CampDoc, our registration software, as part of your health profile. Required documentation is outlined below.

  • Health Form (required for all) - You will complete this in CampDoc after you register as a volunteer. See below for instructions. As part of your health profile, you will need to upload the following documents:

    • Your Immunization Record - Wanakee requires all participants upload evidence of the following required immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella; Hepatitis B;

      Polio; Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis; and Varicella. The Covid-19 vaccination is recommended.

    • Your most recent physical - A signed physical dated within 2 years of your week at camp is required for all volunteers.

  • Yearly Application and Release (required for all) - This is also in CampDoc. It gives us permission to run your background check. You will need an ID handy when filling out this form.

  • References (required for all) - All volunteers are required to send this reference check form to 3 personal and/or professional references.

  • NH DCYF Central Registry Check (required ONLY for volunteers who have lived in New Hampshire within the last 7 years) - This form must be completed in person and signed by the Executive Director. This can be completed at volunteer training. If you are unable to attend volunteer training, please contact the office to make other arrangements.

  • Driving Registry Check (required ONLY for volunteers who plan to drive a camp vehicle) - You can complete this form when you arrive. We will need to take a photocopy of your drivers license to complete this form.
