Reflections on my first week at Wanakee

It was 1967, I had volunteered to counsel for the 9th grade Christian Adventure camp. It was the first year with the tents and hogans on the hill. Co-counselors were assigned and Donna McAdam (she was Cheney then) thought we ought to be in site #5 (now site #7). It was fine with me until I carried all my stuff up the hill on Sunday morning. It was up and a long way. But I grew to love it and would choose it today; it is the best site in the camp.

Wanakee is a peaceful place

I love to walk through the woods, down to the waterfront, up to Lookout and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of this beautiful place.
